This week’s Global Design Project challenge is a CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) of a beautiful pastel card by Rose @rosecoleman_stampinup. Her design features a soft heart background in pink, green, and yellow.

I remembered having some of the retired 'Hello Baby' Project Life cards in my stash and dug through until I found this perfect printed heart pattern. The colours and hearts instantly reminded me of Rose’s background, so I built my card from there.

My card is for an upcoming baby shower for some family, celebrating the impending arrival of a baby boy. To bring in a little more “baby boy” vibe to the otherwise feminine colours, I paired the hearts with a Pool Party card base and added a coordinating strip of Pool Party designer series paper.

For my feature image, I couldn’t resist the adorable rhino from the retired Stampin’ Up! Animal Outing stamp set. I coloured him using grey Stampin’ Blends, added a soft sponged Pool Party background, and gave the little bird a matching pop of blue.

It’s always so much fun to mix and match old favourites from my craft stash with fresh inspiration. Thank you Rose for such a beautiful starting point for this challenge!

Supplies used:

  • Hello Baby Project Life (retired)

  • Animal Outing Stamp Set (retired)

  • Stampin’ Blends (Grey)

  • Pool Party cardstock & DSP

  • Ink: Pool Party

💬 Have you ever CASE-d a design using something from your retired stash? I’d love to hear about it!

I must admit that when I first glimpsed this week's TGIF challenge I interpreted the theme as 'baby'.  Oops - the cue was actually to feature one of your favourite new products from the latest catalogue! Luckily I'd done this inadvertently - phew!!

The brand new Stampin' Up! catalogue was released last month and has just so many gorgeous new tempting goodies inside.  Needless to say I have a huge wishlist!  One of the first stamp sets I crossed off my list was the Silhouettes & Script hostess set - so many great sentiments.  For my design today I've featured the 'hello baby' stamp from this set, applying pink and orange tones with sponge daubers onto the stamp before stamping to achieve the multi-tonal image.

The wreath sitting in behind comes from the new Hello Baby set.  I've combined this with stamps from existing favourite set 'And Many More...' (to decorate the tag) and Zoo Babies (for that super cute giraffe).

Pop on over to TGIF challenges this week to join us for this wonderful challenge.  I can't wait to see all the designs this week but I'm a bit nervous seeing all your favourites products in action is going to make my list even bigger.

Welcome to another Creation Station blog hop.  This round we hope to inspire you with the Simply Wonderful set!

The fonts in this set are very pretty.  I've used the 'Congrats' stamp, masking off the pretty decorative border so there would be room to add the matching 'so happy for you' beneath.  I hand drew some lines in between the two stamped sentiments using the Project Life journalling pen.

The cute little shoes are from the Baby, We've Grown set.  I coloured these using the Night of Navy blendabilities.

I hope you've enjoyed this project!  To follow along with the Creation Station journey click the buttons below!

Creation Station - Simply Wonderful Baby

The very clever Tanya Rees, a member of my Stampin' Up! downline, carved her own Tinkerbell stamp using the Stampin' Up! Undefined kit.  So when my son was invited to a fairy themed party, I knew exactly who to go to for the perfect image - lucky me Tan was generous enough to loan me her creation!

As part of our gift to the birthday girl, I put together some invitations for the party.  I printed the base panel and then stamped Tan's Tinkerbell silhouette in perfect plum purple, finishing with a touch of glitter on the edges of the wings.

Of course, I had to make a fairy happy birthday card too!

The background piece of Floral District DSP (now retired) guided my choice of colours for this design. And as such, this time I've stamped the Tinkerbell Silhouette in rich razzleberry.

The 'splatter' in behind the 5 comes from the Gorgeous Grunge set.  The pretty purple rhinestones are regular Stampin' Up! jewels coloured with the new Blendabilities markers.

Inside the card I added a printed Tinkerbell quotation, a side border of Rich Razzleberry cardstock and a scattering of handcut flowers from the same DSP as features on the front of the card.

Considering having a try at hand carving your own stamp?  More information can be found on page 199 of the new 2014/15 catalogue. Heaps of inspiring ideas using this product can be found here: http://www.pinterest.com/stampinup/undefined-stamp-carving/

Eric Carle's children's book, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", was the party theme for a first birthday celebration we attended over the weekend. Punch art isn't really my forte, but I felt the occasion called for it! Aside from my cute punch cut paper decorations, I wanted a little extra wow factor for this project because the birthday boy's Mum is a crafty cardmaking friend too.  So rather than the standard A6 folded cardbase, I've used a side step fold card for this creation.

We celebrated the birthday's of two little girls who enjoyed a joint 'colours' themed party this weekend. What could be more colourful than a rainbow?  In this design I've pulled together a bunch of colourful off cuts of designer series papers and brought them together to create a background in a starburst pattern. This is my first try at this technique and I will be practicing with it a little more as I really like the effect.

The main image and adjoining sentiment come from a retired set called Easy Events.  I've done some soft colouring with blender pen in colours that tie in with those in the background.  The cupcake top is decorated with crystal effects and some dazzling diamonds glitter.

Friends recently celebrated the addition of a beautiful baby girl to their family.  At the time I created this card for them I was preparing the kits for my December class and it struck me that one of the class cards (shown below) which featured a lot of Stampin' Up!s Old Olive would be nice to alter for the baby card I needed.

So I made an extra kit and used the 'For Baby' stamp from the Easy Events stamp set instead of the 'Merry Christmas'.  I changed the embossing in the background to be dots which I find more suited to a baby design than the vintage wallpaper, and I turned the Old Olive Patterned Designer Series Paper over to use the text pattern so that my lettering of the baby's name 'Olive' would stand out to advantage.

It was nice to be able to share this variation with class participants who were already prepared for their 2012 Christmas cards by the time they arrived in December's class.

A Variation...

This fun, bright children's card features the new 'Blast Off' Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!  I had some leftover strips of Celebrations Designer Series Paper (now retired) and used these to guide the colour palette.

Layout inspired by the current Retro Sketches Challenge.

Friends of ours just welcomed their second beautiful daughter into the world, baby Hope.  I like soft monochrome colour schemes when making baby cards.  Here I've used Pink Pirouette with a touch of Rose Red.  The idea for the lettering came from a sample I saw in the new Stampin' Up! Catalogue.

The layout was inspired by the current Freshly Made Sketch Challenge.

Hello Baby

June 13, 2012

This card was custom made for a beautiful little girl whose favourite colour is pink and who adores butterflies.
The image below shows the dimension and layering in the design.
A really pretty card that was joy to make.  Happy Birthday Cassidy.

The birthday boy loves all things with wheels so I made this card featuring both a truck and digger especially for him. This is the first time I've made a card with this unique step like cut and I love the effect. This is a picture from the side to show the folds in more detail.
Happy birthday dear Micah!

Sometimes all you need is one part of a punch to create the basis for a design.  In this instance I've used just the cupcake base from the Cupcake Builder Punch to make a pedestal for my Fox and Friends animals in this fun circus themed birthday card.
The Poppy Parade Red card stock was run through a crimper before being punched so as to create the rippled effect in the pedestal.  Each of the animals has been stamped in different colours and then carefully cut and layered so each is not only multi-coloured but has nice dimension too.
This card was a lot of fun to make and I will have some available in my Etsy store soon.

For background on the 'Cupcake Challenge' please see the first post on the topic here.

Cupcake Challenge #2

February 6, 2012

I had a wonderful morning crafting with a group of lovely ladies.  Today we made a Valentines Day Card and this matching treat pouch.
This card has previously featured on this blog and was a finalist in the January Mojo Monday competition.

Our third project was this cute boys birthday card featuring a spinning wheel which incorporated imagery from the Fox and Friends Stamp Set.

With every spin of the wheel another cute animal from this set was revealed.

The sentiment from both the pouch and this children's card are from the Petite Pairs Stamp Set.

I am looking forward to my next round of classes in March.  If you are interested in attending please contact me for class times and more details.

I don't have a lot of male stamp sets just yet - they are on the top of my wish list for 2012.  We celebrate the birthday of a primary school aged boy very soon so my challenge was to create a gift box for his birthday present (gift vouchers to a local family entertainment complex and yummy chocolates) without stamped images.

{Birthday Cards featuring Fox & Friends Stamp Set and Stampin' Up Designer Series Paper}

In July my son turned two and I wanted to create a special card for him in celebration.  The result was this trendy card in blues, sand and white featuring the super cute monkey from the Stampin' Up Fox and Friends stamp set.

I enjoyed this project so much that it inspired me to start designing cards for other children too, like this adorable elephant birthday card.

If you are interested in purchasing one of these designs, or in having a card or invitation custom designed, please don't hesitate to contact me.  For those avid card makers out there, DIY kits are also available.
