Sometimes all you need is a pretty sketch to draw a design together. I love the Baby, We've Grown stamp set and I reached for it immediately for this card. The colour palette was easy too - who doesn't love pink for baby girl projects? It had to be tones of Melon Mambo so I could colour with my new Blendabilities markers. So all I needed was a layout and when I saw the Retro Sketches challenge this week everything just fell into place for me.
I had my Stampin' Sponge out because we are doing some ink sponging in class this Saturday. It inspired me to add sponging here. Melon Mambo is a bit of a bolder tone than I would normally go for a baby project, but the softer sponged tones lend that gentler look.
The sponging has been done directly on the white card front. I've created a tag shaped window in another panel of white card and layered this on top with dimensionals - 'revealing' the colour beneath and framing my featured imagery.

Oh, this is SOOOOO beautiful, Jen! Love the tiny hearts scattered on the card, and the tag-shaped window is genus.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet Jenn. Did you hand cut the tag window??
ReplyDeleteLovely to hear from you Barb (and of course you too Christine!). I handcut the window with my Paper Trimmer, using a craft knife to cut the tag top. The knife is a little blunt and so the result is not as clean as I would like. When I recreate this design I might try a die from the Apothecary Framelits instead.
DeleteWhat a sweet baby card! I love the tag window you created and the baby booties. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us this week at RetroSketches!
