Here is a third birthday card I made featuring the Baby, We've Grown set.  These owls are too cute! The little girl I've made this for is an only child and something about the imagery of the little owl between her two parents made me think of her.

The background paper is from the now retired Floral District designer series paper pack.  I love the colour combination for a little girls card, but the pattern was a bit vibrant for me so I've added a layer of vellum to soften it.  To finish, I've fussy cut some of the flowers from the same paper to dot around the design.

The layout was inspired by the current Retro Sketches challenge.

We celebrated an owl themed 1st birthday today and I designed this card especially for the birthday girl. The colour pallette was based on the invitation which also happened to be a fabulous match for some retired Floral District dsp that I had on hand. The layout was inspired by the current Freshly Made Sketch challenge.

Have a hoot...

This weekend I put together a special request for a custom made 50th birthday card. The main colours used are Early Espresso brown and Very Vanilla.  The feature font panel was made using the resist emboss technique with the En Francais background stamp.  The Designer Frames embossing folder made a lovely border for the die cut '50'.  The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set and a splash of colour comes in the form of leaves and a flower from the Summer Silhouettes stamp set.

I've featured the same flower in the inside of the card with a little more french script - this time from the now retired French Foliage stamp set.

A little Smooch Spritz in now retired Log Cabin colour add a gold shimmer to the background embossed panel and the die cut numbers.

Happy 50th Birthday

We went to a fun themed Giggle and Hoot party this month.  I made this Hoot inspired card for the birthday boy featuring an owl created using Stampin' Up!'s Owl Builder Punch.  This is my first play with the owl punch and I thought the card was so cute I couldn't resist creating a girly version with Hootabelle too!

This design was made for a special couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this weekend.  Traditionally 50th wedding anniversary milestones are celebrated with gold so I've made used lots of heat embossed gold elements on a base of black and ivory to bring the card together.

The layout was inspired by the current Freshly Made Sketch challenge.

Golden Anniversary

Last month I received a special request - to create two large (A4 folded) birthday cards, one for her and one for him!  I love when a customer sets me a creative challenge.  She had seen one of my previous designs incorporating the black and white colour scheme and requested something similar with an additional male card in matching tones.  The below male design incorporates a faux metal embossed background which was heaps of fun to do and I can't wait to try this in class to show my ladies sometime soon!

The birthday bloke loves rock hence the 'rock' crown from the now retired Grunge Rock set.  I've added a layer of crystal effects to the crown to help it stand out. A great way to add a little 'wow' to a fairly fresh and clean design.

If you have a special card you would like to order for an upcoming event please do not hesitate to contact me.

His and Hers Custom Order

We have a few birthday celebrations coming up next month. As I am due to have a baby in June I'm trying to carve out some time now to prepare birthday cards in advance.  This card has been made specifically for one special friend turning 2.

The colours and imagery were inspired by Miss Zoe's birthday party invitation.  The layout was inspired by the current Freshly Made Sketch Challenge.

Freshly Made Jungle Birthday

Friends of ours just welcomed their second beautiful daughter into the world, baby Hope.  I like soft monochrome colour schemes when making baby cards.  Here I've used Pink Pirouette with a touch of Rose Red.  The idea for the lettering came from a sample I saw in the new Stampin' Up! Catalogue.

The layout was inspired by the current Freshly Made Sketch Challenge.

Hello Baby Hope

With Father's Day just around the corner I thought it fitting to feature a selection of male cards in class this month.  The Well Worn Designer Series Paper is very masculine and provided a great platform for guiding the designs and colours of these three projects.

This first card uses imagery from The Open Seas Stamp Set available as of the 1st of September in the new 2012/13 Stampin' Up! Catalogue.  Class participants were able to try their hand at colouring with sponge daubers to create the soft ocean scene.  The intial layout for this design was inspired by Michelle Last.

The instant I saw the brick wall paper I knew I wanted to create a design with some sort of 'graffiti' like feel.  The stamps featured here are from the retiring Grunge Rock Set.  The letters are die cut using the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet (also retiring).

This third card showcases the Just Surfing Stamp Set and the technique of applying StazOn White ink to window sheet to create the featured waved backdrop.  We used the paper crimper to create the textured white background, another fabulous tool that is retiring this month!

All three cards have a sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments Stamp Set.  Class participants customised their designs with the sentiment that they wanted based on which events and men they were celebrating in their own lives in the near future.

If you have any questions about these projects or about future class dates please don't hesitate to contact me.
