Very excited to open the current Australian Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft Magazine today to find one of my designs in their 'Readers Gallery'!!

This particular design initially featured on my blog in March last year and features the now retired 'Simply Soft Stamp Set.

This Christmas I put together some little gift bags to give to the lovely ladies who have been so supportive of my classes throughout 2012.

They all received a handmade gift tag and an assortment of cut paper, punched butterflies and scallop circle shapes to incorporate in projects over the summer break - as well as some chocolates to nibble on while they create designs using these challenge pieces.  I look forward to seeing what they make!!

I just love making gift tags and these were especially fun to make!

I've just set the first class dates for 2013.  You can find these on my Stampin' Up! Calender of events at http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/jenniferfrost

Christmas Gifts

Holly and Nick celebrate their wedding at the end of the month and asked me to create these cute little tags for their bomboniere.  I made this little gift box to package them.  The design was inspired by the current Paper Players Tic Tac Toe Challenge (Bling, Wedding & an element repeated in 3) and coordinates perfectly with the couple's invitation which I look forward to sharing with you after their big day!

I thought the current Paper Players Sketch Challenge provided a great layout for featuring the butterflies from Stampin' Up!'s Kindness Matters Stamp Set.

I've created a 'shadow box' style frame here for the Soft Suede butterflies which have been coloured with blender pen in shades of Sahara Sand, Daffodil Delight and Pool Party.  Each butterfly has been handcut and raised under the body with a little dimensional.

My colour palette was guided by the piece of Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper (now retired) that I've used here in my background.

I stuck with the circle as my 'any shape', layering the centre circle high up on the backing circle to create a small round tag look.

At this week's workshop the hostess wanted to see a different way of colouring stamps.  I chose to demonstrate this pretty card using the 'baby wipe' technique.  This technique uses ink from the Stampin' Up! Classic Re-inkers which are dropped onto a folded baby wipe to create a multi-coloured temporary stamp pad.  The stamp set featured was the lovely 'Awash with Flowers', which regretfully retires at the end of this month.

If you have any questions or would like to explore techniques like this in a workshop of your own please do not hesitate to contact me to learn more.

A sympathy card for a friend who lost a male relative last week.  I chose the neutral Sahara Sand for the base with a panel of Chocolate Chip lightly stamped with woodgrain print in the background.  The French Foliage Stamp Set has lovely gender neutral imagery.  I used the leaves from this set on white gloss and then brayered over Old Olive Green to create the feature panel. I kept embellishments to a minimum with just a button and a little bakers twine to finish.

With Sympathy

I created this collection of pretty handmade gift tags for a friend as a little thank you for referring a bride and groom looking for wedding stationary to me.  As a result of her referral I have secured my first wedding job and I can't wait to share the designs with you after their big day in October!

The tags were created in a mix of colours and featured butterflies and/or handmade flowers.   They were a wonderful avenue for using up some of the off-cut pieces of card and designer series paper I have accumulated.

Another example of how just one element of a punch can make a beautiful design feature.  The white squares have had these lovely leaf shapes cut out from them using the Bird Builder Punch.  Then they have been positioned over a strip of Rich Razzleberry using dimensionals to give them a lift.

Bird Punch Class by Correspondence #2

Next month's Class by Correspondence includes three cards whose main design elements were created using the Bird Builder Punch.

I've been looking forward to creating a card with this pretty red and vanilla DSP from the Everyday Enchantment Paper pack.  I chose to add black to the mix for a sophisticated look.  The central image is from the matching Fresh Vintage Stamp Set which just retired last month.  I've coloured this in Poppy Parade Red and Black to match.  The 'best wishes' sentiment is from Petite Pairs Stamp Set.

Some time ago whilst trawling the web I came across this really striking card by Monica Gale.  I just adore the colour combination and way the hydrangea head from last year's 'Because I Care' stamp set lends itself perfectly to being coloured.

Because I Care

The Fox and Friends Stamp set is by far my favourite for creating cute children's cards.  This birthday card was inspired by the current Freshly Made Sketches 'Seeing Spots' challenge (see sketch below).

I'm loving this colour combination of Baja Breeze Blue and So Saffron Yellow with touches of Poppy Parade Red and Chocolate Chip Brown.

With all the pretty colours and imagery on this design I didn't think the card needed too much more by way of embellishments.   I felt adding a little red button by the sentiment was a great yet still simple way to complete the design.

Simply Soft #3

March 8, 2012

I have a suspicion that the Simply Soft exclusive hostess set will quickly become a personal favourite.  Since discovering the Aqua Painter I've had so much fun colouring and this set allows for that with three beautiful floral designs.  I've only featured one here but will have some designs featuring the others soon...

March's Class by Correspondence includes a collection of three very different birthday cards.  The first is this trendy happy birthday card featuring imagery from the Grunge Rock Stamp Set.  The mix of blacks, blues, grey and vanilla on a Crumb Cake base makes it perfect for any rock music loving male.

The second birthday card is this very feminine design featuring stamps exclusive to the current Sale-a-Bration.
The mix of soft pinks and greens as well as the floral imagery makes this card perfect for a girly girl celebrating any age.
This very cute children's card finishes the trio.  It is a female version of the card with spinner created in February's class.  Featuring the cute animal imagery from the Fox and Friends set, this interactive card will be a perfect card for any young girl.
As you spin the image in the window changes, these a just a few of the other cuties on the wheel:

Last month I was able to share with you a prize pack I have donated to help raise funds for our local Premmie Support Group (see post here). That prize will be on offer in the silent auction that will happen on the night of their major fundraiser later this month. Here today I'd like to share with you the major prize I, with the generous support of Stampin' Up!, have been able to donate to the cause.  This complete package will be included in the major auction on the night and includes over $315 worth of Stampin' Up! supplies.

Again I wanted to create an elegant thank you card to go with the prize that incorporated a list of products included in the pack. The theme for the ball is black and silver so this guided my colour choice.
Inside the card is a printed list of all the products included in the prize and the total original retail value of the pack as a whole.  This is only secured to the card with a decorated paperclip. That way the prize winner can remove the insert, add one of their own and gift the card to a friend or loved one.
The LMK Shine the Light on Premmies Ball will be held on Saturday the 18th February. For more information about the organisation please see their website or contact LMK President Laura on 0407 534 950 or Vice President Ang on 0428 118 160.

Thanks - Card with Shaker Window Part 2

February 6, 2012

I had a wonderful morning crafting with a group of lovely ladies.  Today we made a Valentines Day Card and this matching treat pouch.
This card has previously featured on this blog and was a finalist in the January Mojo Monday competition.

Our third project was this cute boys birthday card featuring a spinning wheel which incorporated imagery from the Fox and Friends Stamp Set.

With every spin of the wheel another cute animal from this set was revealed.

The sentiment from both the pouch and this children's card are from the Petite Pairs Stamp Set.

I am looking forward to my next round of classes in March.  If you are interested in attending please contact me for class times and more details.

In Class - February 4th 2012

February 4, 2012

A friend is seeking more ideas on how she might use her cupcake punch so she loaned it to me with a challenge; to create some designs to inspire.  This birthday card design is the first card I've made with the pretty punch.

Here I have showcased two colour variations of the same design, one Blushing Bride Pink and one Poppy Parade Red in combination with Soft Suede and Crumb Cake on a Whisper White backing.  The sentiment 'happy birthday wishes' from the Petite Pairs Stamp Set sits in circles to create a tag that is pinned onto the matching Soft Suede polka dot ribbon.

I've scored the cupcake base to make look more like a patty pan base and decorated the cupcake with three pearls and a cherry on top.

All in all a simple yet pretty card to gift to a female of any age!  I look forward to having a masculine variation for you soon.

Sadly a loved one is in need of a sympathy card this week so I've put this together especially for her.  The background paper is from the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper pack and the sentiment comes from the versatile Petite Pairs Set.
