Father's Day is just one month away.  If you are on the look out for some masculine card ideas to help you celebrate this special occasion, the Australia Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft magazine's latest edition has a great feature - I know, I'm in it with a 'Life in the Forest' themed design lol...

In the meantime,  I'd like to share with you this card I made for my own Dad.  It was one of the last projects I designed with the Fine Feathers and Delightful Dozen stamp sets before I sadly sold them to make way for new catalogue goodies.

What imagery do you have in mind for your Father's day creations this year?

Fine Feathers for Father's Day

August 8, 2014

The theme is 'All things party' in the Creation Station blog hop today.  I wanted to create something a little bit special for this theme so I tried my hand at a card in a box!

I've featured butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and coloured these with blendabilities. Butterflies are very theme versatile and I've chosen a colour scheme and sentiments that could make this design suitable for a wedding, birthday, or even an achievement or anniversary.

I don't do a lot of 3D projects but this card in a box has a lot of wow factor!  I love that this particular template folds down flat to fit in a regular C6 envelope. In the image above, I've shown the back of the box which incorporates a panel for your written message if sending to someone.

But I could see myself creating these in party themes and using them as party decorations!

Be sure to visit the rest the Creation Station team and see what party inspiration they have come up with for you!

Creation Station Blog Hop #7

August 3, 2014

In this round of the Creation Station blog hop we are celebrating weddings!

I like creating custom wedding cards that tie in with the invitations and colours chosen by the bride and groom for the occasion. But as I don't have any weddings coming up, I've gone with one of my favourite colour schemes - mocha and rouge.  I got my hands on the brand new Blendabilities markers this week! These flowers from the retiring Secret Garden set were perfect for colouring with these, and oh my... so much fun!

The sentiments are from the Something to Say set, also from the new catalogue!

Only one project this round!  I hope that you have enjoyed this design.  Now be sure to hop over to see what the rest of the design team have created!

The layout for this design was inspired by the current sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

Love and Marriage - Creation Station Blog Hop #4

June 15, 2014

This card was inspired by a design I recently created and shared in the first Creation Station Blog Hop (see below).  The colour scheme of the initial design was quite feminine, however I thought the imagery would work for a masculine card as well.  So I've taken the basic concept and changed the colours to Island Indigo and added a little red, orange and yellow from the brights collection.  Instead of sequins I added an extra stamped image of the cake and moved my triangle elements around a little to accommodate this.

This card came together really quickly and I'm quite proud of the result.  I hope I've inspired you with this trendy triangle happy birthday card!

More trendy triangles... One for the guys this time
