I'm sharing a video tutorial today for this watercoloured project.  Join me as I use the Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils to colour this beautiful pink Birthday Bloom!

This card featured in my Watercolour class earlier this year.  I'm so happy that the Birthday Blooms stamp set, which contains the gorgeous flower image you see here, is continuing over into the new catalogue due to be released in June.

Stampin' Up! Birthday Blooms and Easter Lamb designs by Jennifer Frost

I had some fun playing with the new Easter Lamb and Birthday Blooms stamps for this round of the Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop.  I first stamped the Easter Lamb on Shimmery White card in basic gray.  I then masked this cute image before adding some flowers from the Birthday Blooms set.  I coloured with blender pens in blushing bride and mint macaron. I also lightly sponged a little Soft Sky blue around some masked clouds in the background.

I went with the 'Here for You' sentiment from the And Many More stamp set for this first project.  I used my Alphabet Rotary stamp to change the 'you' to 'ewe' - a little play on words to tie in with the little lamb.

Of course, the clever Stampin' Up! designers already paired a fabulous sentiment with this pretty image so I thought I'd change the composition a little and create a design to celebrate Easter too.

While in my first design I used pool party card stock embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, in this second card I switched the background to mint macaron to tie in with the panel of Birthday Bouquet designer series paper featured.

It occurred to me that this lovely subtle palette and pretty imagery would also be perfect for a baby card.  I couldn't resist creating just one more variation to showcase this idea.

#TGIFc42, Sketch Challenge, Stampin' Up! Birthday Blooms, Pop of Black and White, Go Wild Designer Paper Pack, Designed by Jennifer Frost

A little black and white can enhance a design, provide contrast and help a feature colour really pop!  The Go Wild Designer series paper stack has some wonderful neutral patterns, including these black on white paint stripes.  I chose to pair it with a Birthday Blooms flower in bright tones of tempting turquoise blue and cucumber crush green.

I went with subtle white twine and sequin embellishments to balance those bold black strokes.

The layout for this design was inspired by this week's TGIF challenge.  If you have some time to craft over the weekend please play along - we love seeing your work too!

#TGIFc42 Birthday Bloom with a Pop of Black and White

February 12, 2016

I featured the pretty Birthday Bouquet designer series papers in my last class.  We heat embossed the Birthday Blooms sentiment on a panel of pool party for this first project.  The pool party glitter ribbon was fan folded on Tear and Tape adhesive before being layered over with the balloon patterned paper and an extra strip of the Tear and Tape adhesive.

The reverse side of this balloon pattern is dots.  Participants had the choice of creating the following design with either pool party or blushing bride as the core colour.  I added a little black and white for contrast and to help those main colours pop.  The sentiment is from the new Enjoy the Little Things stamp set.  I chose it as it fit so well inside the fun frames embossing folder.

Our last project was very feminine.  We fussy cut flowers from the designer papers to decorate this card.  The base is blushing bride with decorative dots textured embossing.

My next class is scheduled for this coming Saturday and will feature some of my Artisan designs. I would love to hear from you if you would like to register your interest in attending!  More details on the projects to be shared on my facebook page soon.

Stampin' Up! Birthday Blooms card by Jennifer Frost for the TGIF Challenges blog, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry and Blushing Bride

I've said it before, I find colour challenges to be - well, a challenge!  I had the Birthday Blooms set on my desk from a previous project and played around with a lot of different concepts before putting together this final design to share with you.

I've added a little grey and black to my design which I think, in conjunction with the white space, helps those colours really pop.

If you find some time to be creative this weekend, don't forget to play along.  Whether you link up at the blog HERE or share your concepts on facebook we love to see them!
