Creation Station, Father's Day

Sunday, June 7, 2015

Anchors are very much in trend at the moment!  So when I had a special request to feature a masculine birthday card in my next class I reached for The Open Sea stamp set without hesitation.

I started with a Hello Honey and Night of Navy colour combination in mind.  I inked up my World Map background stamp for the first time in the yellow tone and sponged on some blues before spritzing with a little water and stamping onto white.  What a ended up with was an interesting background in a range of yellows, greens and blues.  I die cut a circle from the background and added it to some patterned Night of Navy paper and splashes of new in-colours Tip Top Taupe and Cucumber Crush.

The tag features the birthday sentiment from the Butterfly Basics set.  For me, the fonts have a bit of a old-world/nautical feel to them and worked in perfectly for this theme.

When the current Creation Station challenge called for a Father's Day card I happened to have the remaining piece of the World Map background still on desk.  It was an interesting challenge to come up with a card using this leftover piece.

I went with a very similar colour scheme but this time instead of Hello Honey I went with the darker tones of in-colour Delightful Dijon.  The green is a bit deeper than Cucumber Crush, a strip of retired Gumball Green from my off-cuts stash. I've gone with a Night of Navy tag and added a Happy Father's Day greeting from the versatile Teeny Tiny Sentiments set.

I hope you have enjoyed these projects.  Hop along and follow the rest of the Creation Station team as they play with new catalogue goodies and share some of their Father's Day themed projects.

My next class is scheduled for Sunday 21st of June.  To reserve your place please email me.
