Today in class we focused on techniques for creating different types of backgrounds, as well as how to create a gorgeous flower embellishment using card stock circles and ideas for incorporating photos into cards.

This is the first design we tackled. Here the background has been created using a brayer and ink on gloss card stock. The 'Lollypop' style flower is created using layered die cut circles.

The colour palette - Island Indigo, Baja Breeze and Rich Razzleberry was one suggested by the Stampin' Up! Colour Coach.

The second card we made was previous featured on my blog here and won the 'Cut Above' award at the Paper Players for the week it was entered. It was a great example in how to create a lovely soft background using stamped imagery. It also was fun to show how to create this beautiful butterfly using Window Sheets and stayz on ink.

The third project was this gorgeous soft pink vintage inspired design which featured the Framelits Dies currently available in the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue.

A couple of my students previously requested I give some ideas on how photos might be incorporated into cards. So today, for the ladies who were interested, I prepared their beautiful photographs and used these as the centre piece in the frame as opposed to the stamped imagery. This is how a couple of them came out:

I just love the card that Vicky Hayes created here. The flowers stamped together to form a backing panel of in delicate yellows, corals, reds and browns is so pretty. I also love the transparent butterfly.
The current Paper Players Sketch gave me the perfect opportunity to apply some of my favourite things from Vicky's card into one of my own.

I am challenging myself to use up the huge amount of off-cut pieces of DSP that I have accumulated. This pretty paper is from the Paisley Petals Paper pack. I've combined it with some Early Espresso and Coral Calypso to put together this design.

This pretty bird card is the third of a series created using the Bird Builder Punch for my upcoming Class by Correspondence. I thought it would be fun to use some Stampin' Up! Window Sheeting to create the illusion that this bird was sitting independently on it's branch.

The Sahara Sand background is decorated subtly with the Wonderfully Worn background stamp and the flower from the Creative Elements Stamp Set. The sentiment is from the Friendly Phrases Set and is another I thought would would work perfectly for Mother's Day.

Unfortunately this will be the last of my bird punch cards for a little while. I feel I've successfully completed Lisa's challenge to provide some inspiration using this product and it is now safely home with her again.

My toddler was so worn out by all our Easter activities this long weekend that he went to bed without any fuss tonight and I took the opportunity to put together a card for this month's Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

You may remember my recent cupcake challenge. Well now a friend has given me her Bird Builder Punch with the same request; to create some designs to inspire her.

I wanted a nice soft background to allow my pretty Melon Mambo bird to shine against. So I've used a piece of Sahara Sand and decorated it softly with the Wonderfully Worn Background Stamp and flowers from the Creative Elements Stamp Set. I punched the wing from a piece of Whisper White card that had been stamped with the same flower in Melon Mambo. I like the feather-like effect this has.

The sentiment comes from the Friendly Phrases Set.

Bird Punch Challenge

Last month I was able to share with you a prize pack I have donated to help raise funds for our local Premmie Support Group (see post here). That prize will be on offer in the silent auction that will happen on the night of their major fundraiser later this month. Here today I'd like to share with you the major prize I, with the generous support of Stampin' Up!, have been able to donate to the cause. This complete package will be included in the major auction on the night and includes over $315 worth of Stampin' Up! supplies.

Again I wanted to create an elegant thank you card to go with the prize that incorporated a list of products included in the pack. The theme for the ball is black and silver so this guided my colour choice.

Inside the card is a printed list of all the products included in the prize and the total original retail value of the pack as a whole. This is only secured to the card with a decorated paperclip. That way the prize winner can remove the insert, add one of their own and gift the card to a friend or loved one.

Sadly a loved one is in need of a sympathy card this week so I've put this together especially for her. The background paper is from the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper pack and the sentiment comes from the versatile Petite Pairs Set.

Today I attended a breast cancer fundraiser hosted by my Stampin' Up! Upliner Pam Cetinich. Participants created two gorgeous projects, enjoyed lots of beautiful food, and had fun with raffles and balloon blasting fundraising games.

All in all an amazing $2025.00 was raised! Congratulations ladies on such a wonderful event xo
