Trendy Triangles - Creation Station Blog Hop #1

I love a creative challenge!  So when fellow SU demonstrator Jen Arkfeld invited me to join the Creation Station design team I was happy to accept.

What is the Creation Station? It's a chance for a diverse group of us SU Demonstrators to tempt you with beautiful Stampin' Up! goodies by showing you just how versatile they are through a blog hop.  If you are not familiar with them, on a blog hop the end of every post has a "next" button that will take you to the next blog until you end up back where you started.

For this first Creation Station challenge, we were given three product options to choose from to feature. I've chosen to showcase designs using the Geometric Stamp set from the current occasions catalogue.

Triangles are really on trend at the moment in paper-crafting circles.  In the above design I've made them a feature, whereas in this second design I've used them more subtly to add some interest to the background of the card.

I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig to help me position the triangles and then layered over a piece of vellum to soften the look to tie in with the baby theme.

Ok, so I know that I could have easily stopped there with these two designs but I was surprised by how many ideas this set inspired and I couldn't help but create this third project to share as well.

I am known to be a bit of a photography enthusiast. When I saw the little circle in the Geometrics stamp set I thought it would be fun to attempt a 'bokeh' type patterned background.  In photography, the term 'bokeh' refers to an effect produced by light and colour in out-of-focus areas - think fairy lights in a blurred background.

I've chosen fun, bright colours to tie in with the 'hooray for today' sentiment.  Since bokeh is really a photographic effect, I couldn't resist adding a little film frame from the On Film Framelits Dies collection.

I hope that you have enjoyed these projects. Now be sure to hop on over to see what the rest of the design team have created!

  5. Jennifer: Your cards are so colorful and cheerful. I love the bokeh effect on the third card. I also love how you softened the background of the owl card with vellum. What a clever idea! I'm going to have to remember that. And your photography is da bomb! I'm more than slightly jelly!!
