A Sweet & Sustainable DIY Project
Looking for a fun and meaningful way to package Easter treats this year? Today I'm sharing not one, but two little projects we made in my Easter class—a recycled gift bag and a matching handmade tag. These are simple to create, use what you already have on hand, and are a lovely way to personalise your Easter gifting.
♻️ Project 1: Recycled Gift Bag Base
This gift bag base was made entirely from packaging I’d saved—specifically, a brown paper shopping bag. It’s always satisfying to turn something that would otherwise end up in the bin into a thoughtful creation. I simply trimmed, folded, and glued the paper into a sturdy little bag shape, reinforcing the base and sides so it could hold a good amount of treats.
If you want to try this, grab any kraft paper packaging or leftover gift bags you might have lying around. The structure is easy to replicate and you can dress it up however you like For a full video walkthrough, head over to my YouTube tutorial.

🐣 Project 2: Easter Gift Tag
Once the bag was made, it was time to add a little personal flair with a handmade tag. I kept the design fun and flexible so everyone in class could choose whether to feature the bunny, the lamb, or the chick from the same Easter stamp set. Each version turned out so sweet!
The tag itself uses a basic stitched shape die, a scrap of Pear Pizzazz cardstock for the leaf element (from the old Forever Flourishing dies—still a fave!), and whatever image each person wanted to colour. We finished with a sentiment—mine says "Easter Blessings"—and tied it all onto the bag with some ribbon and twine.
It’s a simple but joyful little gift—perfect for neighbours, teachers, or your Easter lunch guests. You can find the tag video tutorial HERE.
🧡 A Personal Touch Makes All the Difference
These are the kinds of projects I love sharing—handmade, eco-conscious, and open to your own interpretation. Whether you’re crafting with a class, with your kids, or just making something on your own for the joy of it, I hope this gives you some inspiration.
